My Exhibition Project
Mathematical Understanding
Our project is about finding patterns in triangular numbers, the equations involved that model
the pattern and using these models to predict how large the triangular number when it reaches
future iterations.
How are triangular numbers formed? Well each iteration has the amount of rows equivalent to
the iteration numbers (e.g) if my iteration is four then I will have four rows the smallest being
one then increasing by one until the fourth row you have four dots.) the pattern continues to
increase to whatever iteration you have.
Personal Connections
This project had quite a few up and downs for me. I first started working with Celtic knots
and relating them to math, however I got stuck with my project on the math so I moved on to
partnering with a few other classmates. That however also didn’t work because I didn’t connect
well with their project so a week and a day from exhibition I finally started my actual project.
This was hard because it took a lot of advocacy and extra work to catch up with the time I
missed but by using problem solving skills and help from Cathy zack (my partner) and I were
able to finish on time.
